Been wanting to get an external HD, bought this on Gold Box for 68.00. I thought I was going to have to come back here and read how to format the drive from other reviews. I went ahead and plugged it in and was then going to come to Amazon for help. Before I could open my browser a popup popped up telling me that the drive needed to be formatted to use on the Mac. In less then 5 minutes my Mac walked me threw the whole process, it was very easy. Just read and answer a few questions like if you want to use the drive with time machine or as an additional drive and then it gets set up for you. I chose to use with time machine, it backed up my drive without any problems. It is slow, I guess, I have never had a ‘fast one’ to compare it to, like other reviewers have posted. But really if you’re using this as a back up does it really matter? I hooked mine up and let it back up in the back ground. It did take several hours to back up my drive (140GB), but like I said it didn’t matter to me since it was running in the back ground. I like that the unit is small and discrete, also like that the cord is short, about 12″, less clutter. It runs on a standard USB to Mini B cord, so if you need a longer cord you probably already have some at home u can use or buy another one pretty easily. No power adapter needed another plus.

Only had a couple days, but happy so far.
