This case is perfect. I use it for my Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 500 GB USB 2.0 Ultra-Portable External Hard Drive STAA500103. (the Seagate measures 5″ x 3.25″ x .5″) There’s more than enough room in the drive comparment for it and there’s a good, thick, sturdy elastic strap to hold it firmly in place. The other side of the case has a half pocket that’s completely big enough for the connector cord plus more. You could easily fit another cord or even two. I carry USB flash drives there as well.

The case has a nylon zipper that works smoothly. It’s a harder case than many I’ve seen but not like a hard plastic. It also has a full size neoprene-like pocket on the outside with the opening on the long side of the case. Sometimes I stash USB flash drives there too. It’s pretty stretchy yet secure so you could use it for a lot of things.

I got the case in red and it looks much better than it does in the picture. It’s a true red and easy to locate in a laptop bag or anywhere else with its color.

BOTTOM LINE: This is a stylish case with the amenities most of us need. I feel confident that if I dropped it from a decent height the contents would still be safe and secure.
